COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP

 

In 1990, HORNWOOD, INC. personnel partners approached Lilesville Elementary School (LES) Principal, Steve Dixon, about forming a partnership between the textile company and the public elementary school. Dixon enthusiastically accepted the proposal.  Hornwood, Inc. Partners (Lilesville Plant Only) committed time, not money, to the partnership. HORNWOOD, INC. Partners serve primarily as small group tutors for LES students. Each tutorial session, designed by each classroom teacher, supplements classroom learning.

At the end of each academic year, LES tutorial students visit HORNWOOD, INC. During that on-site visit, LES students participate in HORNWOOD, INC. Ropes Course, team-building activities, and in a HORNWOOD, INC. plant tour.
